At 3:45am on July 15th, I set off on my way up to San Jacinto Peak for my 3rd full-length Cactus to Clouds adventure from the valley of Palm Springs at sea level to the peak of San Jacinto over 10,800ft.

It was the hottest day of the year up until that point so I made sure to carry at least a gallon of water and started early. It was already 32 celsius by 4am so I kept a good pace up to the tram.

I stopped at the Long Valley Ranger station picnic tables to refill my water bladders, change drenched clothing and eat as much as my body would allow. After about 15 minutes I carried on towards the summit.

The heat was chasing me but my energy was good. I was able to make the summit before noon and start making my way down and to the tram before the heat started peaking. The tram down was nice and refreshing and I took an Uber back to my car where it was 48 celsius. No C2C2C at this time of year 🙂
